About Us

Whilst OWL is a new company formed with international partners to expand our reach, our experience stems back over 30 years.

Our founder Eric Llewellyn, already an established and respected food researcher, in his search for the best nutrients to support the Bristol Cancer Help Centre, developed a unique relationship with Andrew Szalay the founder of the Grow Company Inc. Their pioneering work developed the 'Food State' concept and ultimately the ingredients, products and formulations that are now our exceptional supplements. This work has progressed further with the close association between OWL, Eric Llewellyn and Dr. Massoud Arvanaghi, Grow's current CEO. Dr. Arvanaghi's continued research efforts are concentrated in the areas of health, nutrition, food flavours, natural products, bio-fermentation, peptide, DNA/RNA synthesis, super acidic systems, toxicity, environmental and biotechnological products.

Historical Background

Andrew Szalay founded Grow Company, Inc. in 1977. Andrew is a pharmacist, who received his degree in 1946 from Szeged University in Hungary, where the renowned Nobel Laureate Albert Szent-Györgyi conducted his research leading to the discovery of vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid), and thereby, initiating Andy's nutritional ideologies.

After learning about the preventative superiority of natural nutrients, and due to his interest in the welfare of people, Andy set out to create a line of nutrients that emulated natural food. In 1956, he moved to the United States and for the following twenty years his research efforts encompassed the areas of nutrition, botanical extracts, the study of medicinal plants, and herbs.

In 1977, Andy's lifelong dream was successfully achieved by producing nutritional supplements with the actual composition of natural food. He finally realised success by integrating vitamins and minerals into a glycoprotein matrix of proteins, complex carbohydrates, lipids, bioflavonoids, and dietary fibre. He developed a new line of extraordinary food nutrients,'Food State' arguably the most important breakthrough ever in nutritional science.

Early in the 1980's Andy began working with Eric Llewellyn developing nutrient formulas for clinics.
